Today in class

Today in class we researched no child Left behind act. After researching it i realized that there was not a Major increase in test scores. If theres not a significant increase in test scores i feel that it is a huge waste of money.

Day 23

Today in class we learned about smart and interactive whiteboards. I personally feel that they would be very helpful in classrooms,and i think they would save time in lessons that involve showing a video or accessing the Internet. Evidence that supports my view in the article is, "[Interactive whiteboards] can enhance any lesson and entice students to learn. With the use of whiteboards,teachers can develop many creative ways to capture students’attention and imagination" (Reardon 2002). That is how i feel 100%. I am a visual learner and i feel if i would have had a smart board in elementary school i would have made better grades and payed attention more.

Day 20

In class today our assignment was to find a webquest we want to change. The webquest i want to change is titled Bowling Webquest. The change im going to make is to explain how to bowl instead of only the history. Also i want to add pictures and change the dull color scheme.

Day19

Today in class we used web quest. We had to work in groups of four to collaborate on which project we felt was best. I feel that this assignment falls under section one benchmark c of the nets for students 2007. This assignment meets this standard because we worked in groups and explored complex issues to collaborate on. I personally don't like web quest very much. I think the directions are kind of unclear.

Day 14

Today in class Denise had us create a worlde with the words we described web 2.0 with. This was a very helpful activity. By looking at other peoples wordle's it helped me further understand what web 2.0 was all about. This activity falls under Innovation Is the 21st century skills website. This activity falls under innovation because it helped students who are not prepared for web 2.0 get prepared by looking at other peoples wordle's. Also we had to critically think as a group to come up with the words we chose to create the wordle.

Day 13

Today in class Denise had us Link all of the website we use in class to our blackboard. This is going to make it so much easier on me to find out what were doing. This assignment falls under Information Media and Technology skills in the 21st. century framework. This assignment falls under this particular section because we had to learn how to use new tools in order for technology to be beneficial.

Day 12

Today in class Denise had us make a quiz for the fifth grade class. We used Microsoft power point to create the quiz. This falls under product ability and accountability in the partnership for 21'st century skills. We used a website called slide share to upload and embed the PowerPoint in our blog. This falls under product ability and accountability because we had to work in a timely fashion and complete the work on a deadline in order to achieve a proficient grade.

Day 11

Using blogmiester we did group story writing. We helped a fith grader fuinish a story he started. This falls under socail and cross cultural skills/ interacting effectivily with others. It will be very interesting to see how the fith grader finishes the story. The fith grader that started the story i commented on is very creative

Day 8

In high school we had an account on edline.com This falls under section four benchmark c of the iste. When using Edline we could look at our grades, e-mail teachers, and get our assignments if we missed class. This falls under the section very nicely because. It promotes informational and good Internet etiquette.

Day 6

Today in class we skyped with the fifth grade class about things you should and should not say on a social networking website. This assignment falls under section 3 of the ISTE, benchmark b. This falls under the particular category because we helped students with questions to protect their safety against predators on the Internet. All of the fifth graders had very good questions. the child that i answered questions for asked: Should i write about my hobbies? Should i tell My parents if i get a myspace or facebook? I answered the first one by saying, Yes, but only your friends in real life. You shouldn't add people you don't know as your friends. When they asked the second question, I said you should definitely tell your parents , not only that you have a myspace/facebook but your password also.

Day 4

Today in class we joined the web 2.0 facebook page. This falls under section 2 benchmark B, of the iste. This is a very informative page for teachers and people studying to be a teacher. There are controversial debates, videos, and interesting articles. We also watched a CNN debate about our generation being the most uneducated generation ever. In the debate there was someone from an older generation debating with someone who just graduated college. I agreed this the younger person. Technology is assisting in making this generation the smartest generation ever.

Day 3

Today in class we joined a learning community full of teachers called classroom 2.0. This assignment falls under section 5 benchmark 1. This assignment hit this section right on the nose. That's all classroom 2.0 is a global learning community, full of teachers. This program is very cool, you can go to a numerous amount of teachers' blogs to find out what the average day is like. Also teachers have posted ideas on how to conduct specific lessons. This program is not only useful now, but will also be very useful when i become a teacher.

Day 2

Today in class we worked with the program google docs, we created a mock employment resume. This exercise falls under section 2 of the ITSE.It falls under benchmark . The reasons why it falls under that section is it promotes learning that will help you in life because it gave us practice in making a resume. It helped our creativity because we had to make-up some of it. This assignment will be very helpful later in life when we will already have some experience creating a resume. i had no idea that there was a program out there that you could create so many documents.

Day One 1/19/09

The assignment we did in class today fell under under standard 3.Specifically under benchmark 3b. We created a blog, and wordoled with fifth graders. It falls under 3b because we interacted with other students in a different area about the same general subject. Also a blog is a great way to interact educationally with students and teachers from all over the globe. Blogger is a great way to post google docs, which are great tools, to help further education.
